Climate Change The Pacific Ocean - 1225 Words

The objective of this program was to inform the reader or listener about how climate change I the Pacific Ocean is affecting marine life. Along with climate change affecting marine life, ocean acidification is causing the destruction of coral reefs, which are essential for the humans and the organisms that thrive on them in the ocean. Past the scientist views of whom is to blame for this, the true message is to get awareness out to the public so that this process of ocean destruction can be reversed so the preservation of the organisms in these oceanic regions can survive and continue to thrive. It is a general conclusion that is brought up in this radio broadcast, that although there is stark evidence that marine life is changing, there†¦show more content†¦What I learned from this recording was, that El Nino and the Pacific decadal isolation will last for about 20 years; but these trends of climate change that are occurring are not very well known or understood by the peop le living around these areas. The warming trend is now relatively new to people learning about climate change. In early 2014 there was unusual warm water in the pacific northwest, deemed the â€Å"blob†. It is warm enough to have a big impact on the ecosystem; it is over 1k miles across, and warms the water in its capacity about 4-5 degrees Fahrenheit. Still, the scientist are looking for causation of this blob. Weather patterns are sought to be in correlation of this blob. The triple ridicules resilient ridge is a pressure zone in California that one scientist in this radio broadcast reported, caused the blob. The trends that were seen in this warming of the oceans were that tropical species started to migrate northward when El Nino was around. These migratory patterns and changes to ecosystems cause for biodiversity which evidently so, is not viewed as a good thing in this case for the Pacific Northwest region. The blob has warmed up the pacific coast region in its time of existence. There is an upside to the shortcoming of El Nino, on the west coast, trends show that it slows down the acidification
